Texas Style Council 2013 Summer School Schedule*
Below you'll find an overview of our full schedule. Mix and match session offerings to create a curriculum that is perfect for your goals- on your blog, in your business, or in your life, in general. Workshops are tagged as BLOG SCHOOL (specific for bloggers), BUSINESS SCHOOL (specific for businesses and brands), GEN ED (good for anyone), or DIY (craft classes).
FRIDAY, AUGUST 2
EARLY REGISTRATION & SWAP DROP-OFF, HAPPY HOUR, + CLOTHING & BOOK SWAP MIXER IN THE 2ND STREET DISTRICT.

SWAP DROP-OFF & HEAD OF THE CLASS REGISTRATION
All registered attendees should bring two amazing clothing items and one book to swap with other attendees. All items will be marked with your blog or business name and social media channels, so bring something previously loved but in near mint condition. Please, no accessories. Book should be in decent condition and something you yourself enjoyed. Drop off items between NOON and 6PM so that we can tag, organize, and hang items. While there, meet our staff and pick up your TxSC Summer School badge and 2nd Street shopping pass. Unable to make it by 6PM? Hand your items off to a friend, ship to them us prior to the conference, or bring your items anyway. Swapping will last until 10 PM. [map]

All swappers will leave with two new-to-her items and one new-to-her book. Lulus.com will be seeding the swap with 250 brand new items, so get there early to find these treasures. This isn't one of those chaotic grab and go swaps. This is a chance to thoughtfully select items that you'll actually wear, tweet your new finds, meet new people, and make trades throughout the night. Elizabeth from Delightfully Tacky will help you style your new-to-you treasures, and Julie from 2nd Street and Stephanie from Lulu*s will welcome you. Sip on a special cocktail featuring some Texas heat and Treaty Oak Platinum libations.

Drop in any time to ask Linda Eliasen your design questions. Grab an Honest Tea and a Kind bar and sit down one-on-one to have your site looked over by a talented young designer whose impressive roster of clients include MailChimp, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and Squarespace. NOTE: the DESIGN LAB runs at the same time as our SHOP TOUR and LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOPS, so attendees may not be able to participate in all three, unless they provide their own transportation.

Board our TxSC buses for a fun four hours of shopping. We'll spend the first half thrifting and doing a thrift store tutorial. The second half of the trip will be shopping and styling with some of your favorite bloggers. Seats are limited, so please arrive on time to sign-up and board. NOTE: the SHOP TOUR runs at the same time as our LIFE SKILLS WORKSHOPS and DESIGN LAB, so attendees may not be able to participate in all three, unless they provide their own transportation.

THRIFT FIELD TRIP AND WORKSHOP AT SAVERS
led by Jentine of My Edit, presented by Savers
Jentine will be giving a mini 'lecture' on how to up your thrift game. She'll cover the basics of navigating a thrift store, as well as some advanced techniques on how to find quality, the practical issue of how to clean and sort thrift store finds, and of course, how to have fun and see potential. After the lecture, you will have a giant Savers store to test out your new thrift muscle.

The buses will depart Savers at 2:00 and split up. One bus will go to Moss Designer Consignment for the Fashion Loves People pop-up shop with Alyson Fox first, while the other bus will go to Ragalicious Vintage to check out some of Austin’s finest vintage first. Buses will switch half way through so both buses will go to both shops. Brought to you by PayPal's Cash For Registers.

Getting published is a lot of work, but not impossible. Learn how to use your blog to assist long-term goals, like getting a book deal. Becky will cover working with a literary agent and landing a book deal, whereas Megan will cover working with a publisher directly.
