Interview with Ruche!

[Please enjoy Jeneba's (Haute & Styled) interview below!]

Over the holiday weekend I had the pleasure of interviewing Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer Mai Olivo of TxSC sponsor, Ruche. If you aren’t familiar, she describes Ruche as an amazing team that is passionate, inspired, and lively (sounds like my kind of place!). She gave us the scoop on fashion, business, careers, and her favorite trends. See the full interview below!

What are three of your favorite things in your shop?

I love the Jitterbug Polka Dot Blouse in Ivory from our new Seashells look book. My husband and I just had our first daughter, Amelie, and I think she looks so adorable in the Rose Mary Indie Crown Headband from our children's line. I also can’t forget about the Eliza Doolittle Bow Ballet Flats. They go with everything!

What’s the best lesson you’ve learned in [retail]?

Listen to your customers! We’ve learned that our customers are the best source of inspiration and guidance. We’re here to make them happy, after all.

Who are some of your favorite bloggers?

Oh gosh, where do I start? I adore Elsie and Emma from A Beautiful Mess. I've met them in person and they're the sweetest! And Mara, of M Loves M, of course. My list continues with Kendi Everyday, Jen Loves Kev, The Clothes Horse, Orchid Grey, Selective Potential, The Daybook, Delightfully Tacky, Cupcakes and Cashmere, Pink Peonies... I'm super excited to meet some of these ladies at TxSC! I also have favorite blogs for wedding and design too, including Green Wedding Shoes and Design Sponge.

What do you love about Austin?

I've never been! I'm so exited to visit for TxSC and I guarantee I'll fall in love with the city. I've been told there are a ton of restaurants and boutiques to check out.

What do you recommend attendees wear?

Texas in August? Something nice and cool! A cute summer dress that is light and airy accompanied with colorful strappy sandals. Keep your feet nice and cool but still so stylish. Ruche’s Heart to Heart Polka Dot Dress is a great dress for the summertime.

What are some of your favorite pieces in your closet?

I think the pieces that I can go back to every season are some of my favorite. I have a faithful pink knitted cardigan that I loosely synch with my thin light brown leather belt. It accompanies every outfit miraculously! (Great accessory style tip!)

What are some of your favorite trends for the summer?

To start, maxi dresses! They're so versatile. They can be worn as beach coverups or dressed up for summer parties. They're super comfortable too, which is also why I'm currently obsessed with the resort wear trend. Everything looks effortlessly chic, but remains comfortable and breezy too.
