I had the chance to interview Mélanie Daigle of the fabulous prescription eyewear company Bonlook. Check it out for the up close and personal on all things fashion, retail and Bonlook!

I had never heard of Bonlook, so I got to know all about the company during my chat with Mélanie, who describes the brand as trendy, fun, and accessible. For newcomers to Bonlook (like myself), Mélanie  shared her recommendations and her favorite things in the shop. She suggests:

“Honeybadger to rock your office outfit, La Marquise to accessorize your night out outfit and the Blue Steel sunglasses to enjoy the sun during the weekend”.

We talked fashion, and it seemed Mélanie is all about comfort. I would call her a minimalist when describing her style. Her favorite summer trends include cold clear sangria (hilarious) and black Chevron print. Her fashion must-haves and favorite things in her closet include:  2 long summer dresses from Lulus; 1 short summer dress from Tobi; and cute flats from ModCloth. When talking about the Texas Style Conference, Mélanie  suggests attendees wear any type of summer dress because of the heat and flat shoes for comfort because heels are “simply painful”.

For all you fahsionistas dying to get into the fashion world, you are in luck! Mélanie shared her industry advice for young professionals and the most important lessons she’s learned in retail.

“Never take no for an answer, believe in your idea and don’t get discouraged by your competitors – just be smarter- Listen to what your customers have to say! They are brilliant and creative”.

She is big into the world of fashion blogging and loves too many  bloggers to only name a few! Her long list of faves includes: A Beautiful Mess, Bleubird Vintage, Keiko Lynn,  Kendi Everyday, Love Taza, Honestly WTF, PS I made this.

She is looking forward to returning to Austin and loves the city for ts uniqueness calling it, “ A small town but SO creative and open to diversity”.
